The Incident
A simple lunch out can turn into a nightmare when basic safety is ignored. Our client was enjoying a meal at a Sydney café when her day took a painful turn — slipping on a chip carelessly left on the floor as she walked to pay, sending her crashing to the ground with injuries that could have been easily prevented.
Treatment and Recovery
Since our client’s accident, she had to attend a physiotherapist several times to relieve the pain caused by the injury.
The Claim Process
Our firm argued that the café failed to maintain a safe environment for its customers and therefore should compensate our client for the treatment required after the slip and fall. This type of injury is considered a public or occupiers liability claim.
We organised an Informal Settlement Conference (ISC) with the café’s insurer to negotiate compensation. Following negotiations, a settlement amount was agreed upon.
Case Outcome
Our successful claim against the café’s insurer resulted in a settlement of just over $30,000 for our injured client. She was very satisfied with the outcome.
